SOUTHERN VALLEY – HALF A DAY

ITINERARY

we will pick you up at 08:30 from the hotel, in our touristic bus to southern cusco. along the way we will see scenic villages and the typical andean landscape. after 40 minutes we will arrive at the ruins of tipon where we will have the opportunity to see well preserved farming terraces and an impressive hydraulic system. tipon was supposedly a recreation center for the high class of the inca empire.

after this tour we will descend to the archaeological site of pikillacta, allegedly the administrative center of the wari culture, during the inca time. our last stop will be at the colonial church of san pedro de andahuaylillas. this catholic church was built in the 17th century over the foundations of an old inca temple. with painted murals of barroque style it is known as the “sistine chapel of south america. we will return to cusco at 15:00 approximately.
