SALKANTAY TREK - 5 DAYS 4 NIGHTS


DAY 1: CUSCO - SORAYPAMPA

Our day will start around 03:20 and 04:00 am (due to road improvement work), we will leave Cusco and go through the towns of Izcuchaca and Limatambo until arriving at Mollepata where we will have breakfast around 07:00. Afterwards we will start our walk up till Cruzpata and then to Soraypampa where we will set our first camp. 

 

DAY 2: SORAYPAMPA - CHAULLAY

 

Around 07:00 we will have breakfast and then we will continue our path, through the valley of Collpabamba where we will have lunch. We will keep walking and enter the scenery of the high Peruvian forest, and appreciate the rivers that will later become tributaries of the Urubamba River, a variety of orchids and a large waterfall while gazing at Salkantay. We will arrive at Chaullay and spend the night here. 

DAY 3: CHAULLAY – PLAYA SAHUAYACO – SANTA TERESA

We will continue our walk after a comforting breakfast; we will start by observing a variety of Coca crops, considered a sacred leaf by our ancestors, which is now planted in tropical areas. This last section will be all descending to the beach and from there we will go to Santa Teresa where we will spend the night.

DAY 4: SANTA TERESA – AGUAS CALIENTES

 

After witnessing the sunrise in a tropical area filled with history and nature we will have breakfast and be ready to continue our journey to the town of Machu Picchu. After about 7 hours, passing through the famous Hidroelectrica (optional service: train from Hidroelectrica to Aguas Calientes), making stops in different places to appreciate the scenery and beautiful waterfalls with water from the glaciers, we should be arriving into town, most commonly known as Aguas Calientes. We will spend the night in a hostel at the foot of the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. 

 

DAY 5: MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO

 

Early morning around 04:30 we will ascend to the majestic Inca citadel of Machu Picchu where we will have a guided visit for about 2 hours and the rest of the day to freely explore Huayna Picchu, Intipunku, and the temple of the moon or simply walk around the ruins. We will go back to town in the afternoon depending on the timetable of the train, which we will let you know once you book this tour with our company.
